After my beautiful loving Erra died, I have decided to take in the first most unwanted dog that will cross its path with mine. I wanted to offer a second chance to a dog in need.
But do you think I could stop at the first one? It was impossible. I started by putting bowls with water and food for the dogs that were abandoned in the forest close to our home. Then I started to take in and foster the ones that were poorly. And then, through my good friends Laura and Lazarina, I got actively involved in the neutering campaigns they had in Romania. Not everyone is aware, but in Romania, unfortunately, people are abandoning pups and kittens, sometimes together with their mums on the side of the road. The rising number of strays, both dogs and cats represents a real issue in my country. We could try and feed them, but they are not safe on the streets/forests. Some organisations for animals’ protection started neutering campaigns wherever they could. Through these campaigns people, especially from the country side, are encouraged to bring their dogs and cats for the intervention, rather than abandoning them and their offsprings.
This is how I got into contact with Sylvia and @friendsforsecondhandpaws
With their help I managed to foster, treat and find families for a lot of animals that otherwise would have died on the side of the road, starved, scared or in pain. And we managed to neuter hundreds of dogs and cats.
Thank you Laura and Lazarina for all your efforts!
Thank you @friendsforsecondhandpaws for all your support!
You can see the amazing job and effort these ladies are putting in to save numerous lives and to make sure that they all get their safe and loving homes on their Instagram page, which is in German, or on the adoption page from Facebook, in. English (see the photo I’ve attached to this post, please). These dogs need our help, and you can help with their financial support (I will come back with details in a future post for those who are interested) or you can adopt one of the dogs. Why not? After all, the dog is men’s best friend 🙂
